I have been sharpening my craft in photography and videography for the last 5 years. In that time I have met some great people and learned bigger and better ways to get creative with my shooting and editing. I have been interested in the stories that makes up the lives of every individual, longer than I have been doing photography. It is for that reason that getting to know my subjects is the most important part of what I do.
I was born in Brooklyn to and raised in the Bronx by my Father who was a Ghanaian immigrant. One of the first and few times I would leave the city would be when I attended Stony Brook University taking courses as a double major in Psychology and Sociology. After graduating I started working at Columbia University where I would obtain my PhD. The years of study in the social sciences reinforced my interests in the lives of others and the journey that has led them to where they are and where they are headed. I know live in Northern VA, and do prefer it over the city I grew to....like less. I have made it a point to document the days of my life and the thoughts that come with it as much as I can. It is somewhat cliche' but I recognize the path ahead is long, but admire how far I have come.
When I am not shooting or working my day job I indulge in some of the more guilty pleasures that life has to offer. I am known to do some occasional gaming on my PS4 although I have not joined the craze of online gaming. Motion film is an art I have been into since elementary school, preferring the genres of horror (notably zombie movies) and documentaries. I rarely read fiction and tend to gravitate towards historical text.
I believe that every moment in our lives is precious and everyone has a story worth telling. I believe this is the most important aspect of still and motion capture. Although we can never turn back time, a photo album and video can help you come close.
